It gives me great pleasure in writing this letter of reference for John Forgeron. I highly recommend him as an outstanding and accomplished horse trainer and clinician. I am speaking from my own personal experience having observed him for the last two months while working with my horse.  I placed a ten year old gelding with him to train. The gelding didn't know the basics, shied at everything, trusted no one, and needed conditioning.  Each day I saw an improvement in the horse.  He began trusting.  HIs attitude improved and he actually enjoyed being ridden.   John gets along well with people too.  He will patiently answer all of your questions and explain everything that you don't understand.  I have watched John instruct teenagers who were beginning riders. John worked with Blaze just a little over 30-days and each week that he came to my location for my lesson, I noted a remarkable change in Blazes mind and the way he responded to me. John was very patient in teaching both my horse and me and my mind also started to change along with Blaze’s. I would read my training plans also watch videos that John gave me over and over so that I could emulate what John did with him. I think we have a better respect for each other as my mind opened up. We still have a ways to go based on his desire to chase cows and not stroll down the trail, but that will remain to be seen. I am not willing to give up on him as we are partners right now, but what I can say is that I am much more confident working him on the ground and to ride him, he responds much better to me and what John did in 30-days is remarkable as three previous trainers could not do this in a year. 

I have a high respect for what John can accomplish in such a short timeframe. His work ethic is far above anyone I know and I am fortunate to have found him. I am going to continue to follow him in his training techniques and hopefully when he comes again I will be much improved. 6 years ago I was given a 9 year old Though breed retired race horse.  Being a new horse owner, I was nervous to be around him. Added to that, he's size, personality and leeriness of people.  I had numerous people try to help me and teach me how to work with him and never felt like I was making any progress and then during one lesson, I was bounced off and broke my ankle. 2 and a half years later, once I was healed.  I tried contacting multiple trainers to help, the majority turning me down and other's telling me there was no hope for him. 

After my initial phone consultation with John, I finally felt hopeful. John has been to my house 2 times for over 3 hours each session.  I live far from the city so we wanted to maximize our session together.  He taught me step by step basic ground work with full explanation as to why we do them, with follow up video's and on paper to refer too.  These steps have made my trust and confidence rise ever time I work with my TB.  On my second session, I felt confident to ride my TB for the first time in 2 and a half years.

John is a true horseman and is passionate about he's work.  I have confidence again and enjoy working with my TB.   .........Thanks again, Martinique
